Listening to the Wind

Posted in Nightwind's diary by raistlin @ Aug 25, 2010

It doesn’t take much to let me know that there is magic around. The light of the moon, a soft breeze filled with enticing scents, clouds shape like mythical creatures … everything the speaks for our one Mother Nature. Most people consider our Mother to have forgotten us … but nothing could be further from the truth. She is always around, watching over her children even as they harm her, choosing the artificial new ways over nature’s nurturing. I fear that slowly I am also drifting away, losing myself into everyday troubles in ways I never thought I will succumb to. Yet I always wake up to the silent music of my dreams which reminds me that life is so much more than what we can touch.

In those moments I open my eyes to a whole new universe which sends everything else adrift. In this universe higher powers are at work, things unseen that weave the softest thread which leads me through a maze of thoughts, ideas and imagination. Yet imagination may not be the proper way to describe this as the unreal switches places with the real, but still quenching the thirst for the magic touch. Here I can drink from the Fountain of Youth, which rejuvenates my wounded spirit and cleans it from the dust of the mundane.

There is no evil to fear here, nor good to strive for as the dichotomy is unknown. Here things simply exist, just as the law of Mother Nature dictates. They exist without labels or prejudice, under the manifold meanings they will unravel in time. Each layer needs more than a glance to reveal its secrets to those brave enough to open their mind and empty it of meaningless notions such as good and bad. The wind is as much a consciousness as are the trees, flowers and insects.

Here we all are one, connected by the invisible thread – an inseparable link that contains all life. Together we are strong, together we live in harmony. As we shed the cuffs that cut down our freedom, our wings grow once more as they did many winters ago. The wind lifts us higher and higher, drunk with freedom and immortality.

Nightwind’s Journal: Within the Night

“Do you cling to the past … or can you see through the pain?” he did not remember where the question came from but now, as the assassin sat alone in the night with the fire being his only friend, it came back to haunt him. He prodded the fire back into flame, the bright eruption casting a strange dance of shadows all around him. His lips curled into a light smile, watching this strange game that light and shadow played near his bed roll and wondered about their nature … unwilling to give in to the question. (more…)

The speaker in dreams

Night’s veil is once again upon me. The rampant noise of the world has faded from my sense and I find myself curled up in my shell. I am safe here in my world, away from the monster’s grasp. It is alright, they know me here and even if this universe occupies but the small space inside my head, it is more than enough for me. (more…)

Confessions of a Dangerouns Mind

Posted in Nightwind's diary by raistlin @ Jan 22, 2009

It’s late at night and all I can hear is my heartbeat. Me and my heart have a very special relationship … I listen to her words often as she whispers to me. Lately she’s been telling me about my princess, words of dreams that could come true, words of endless love, like a sea in which I’m long lost, swimming forever in her eyes.

Who am I, but a dreamer lost at midnight, between two worlds, both which exist inside me. Many a time you have asked me why I do not try more, to leave something tangible that will leave the world in awe, forever marked by my passing. To this I simply answer: I do not wish to. The only places that matter to me are those found within. This is a dreamer’s essence, the place I got inside my mind, the wondrous worlds I explore, places that now I try to share with you. Nobody but you can rech me in here, nobody else can see what I have in store for you and only you. This is how I like things to be, late at night, when the thundering noises of the material words are nothing but the choes of a pain that’s passed.

We have healed from that. This essence that you cannot see, I hope that you will understand it. Because now I’m close to a rupture, where my mind is no longer my one and only refuge. Now, I seek that intangible refuge in your very tangible arms. But in that I need something from you … I need … that exploration …. for now I no longer wander the sea inside, but outside, with your hand in mine. And for this, I need you to hold my hand tight and ask “say, would you like to discover something together, to learn together something new?” in the same way I have asked you in the past … then you did not have the patience to wait for me so we could discover something new together. But I hope that one day you will.

The hour grows late now. I feel my mind drifting away already … but I know I’ll find you soon in our land of eternal beauty.

“relax” he heard his mentor’s voice in his head as he sat on his keens in the only patch of light within the dimly lit room. “relax … slowly”. He tried to empty his mind on focus on the imaginary sound in his head. “let it course through you … follow the beam of light as it traverses your veins”. (more…)

A story told, a quest begun

(out-of-Syree story)

Her dark eyes opened slowly to a view she did not expect. A room she did not remember surrounded her, a pretty little room lit by a large golden chandelier and rich carpets adorned the floor and the walls, while a soft fire was struggling to burn in the hearth. Yet the most unexpected was the presence of a pointy-eared man who was standing nearly above her. (more…)
